I'm currently putting together an entire tube system. The chassis are going to be anodized machined aluminum, so it would look nice to have anodized aluminum speaker cabinets.
I figured I'll build them out of MDF, and use lots of JB Weld to glue the sheets of aluminum to the surface. Would having this metal on the surface cause any achoustical problems? I haven't decided on a design yet, but it will probably be a full range bass reflex. The amps are 300B mono blocks. thanks, Jay |

Probably not, so long as you make sure the drive units have thin gasket strips to prevent too much contact and vibration. In fact, quite the reverse; should add a touch of the constrained layer effect, and help to damp the enclosure if anything. Celestion's Aerolam cabinets are still very well regarded.
