Default micro drivers?

I just finished building my first subwoofer. I live in apartment, so my friends had a great time joking at my expense: "The problem speaker building as a hobby is, the better you are at it, the more your neighbors hate you."

Still, my new subwoofers sounds great and although I keep tweaking it, I am quite happy with it.

first sub -- cheap style

But all the joking got me thinking, and I decided to build something tiny and portable and for my next project.

I want o use the kind of mini drivers that are used in portable iPod docking stations like this:

http://www.alteclansing.com/product_...asp?pID=IMPLUS

Does anyone know where to buy these 1" full-range mini drivers. Or perhaps they are headphone drivers? I can't seem to be able to Google anything, and Madisound told me they don't sell any.

Thanks a bunch.

Keep in mind that to get those little drivers to produce any kind of bass the sensitivity suffers. IOW, you could use a SI T-amp but only if you're right next to the speakers.
Not a criticism, just a reality check.
I got my hands on a pair of OEM mini-drivers and they're pretty impressive (with 80db sensitivity). I think we'll see more coming.

Here is the result so far:

Easier speakers ever. 1" driver, 1" Iron pipe and a drop of super glue. I also had to stuff them with a little bit of coton. The Loudspeaker Design Cookbook has a chapter on transmission line that discusses how to get this right.

Naturally, they don't get much bass. Nevertheless, I am quite pleased to get some nice imaging out of 20$ worth of driver (2x6$) and material (2x4$).

I'll try do build a small sub for them next.

cheers

No, not the Aurel. They are the HiVi B1S that Nemophyle suggested.

xstephanx: these are transmission lines, not baffles. they are pleasantly loud for their small size.
