Default need help to pick new project

I am looking a new project that is a step up in quality from my current speakers .

which are 2.5 ways made from vifa P17 & D25 tweeter

they are used for audio 90% ht 10% I have a sub so bottom end is not a problem . what i am after is a better midrange & top end

the room is 16feet by about 12 feet my budget is about $600 aus . for drivers & x/o parts

I have found 2 designs that I like I just cant decide between the 2

no1 http://www.zaphaudio.com/audio-speaker17.html

no2 http://www.humblehomemadehifi.com/Tempo.html

so i am chasing peoples opinons on which would be a better speaker or any other ideas . would like to stick with drivers available in aus if possible thanksl

Out of those two i'd personally be picking zaph's design, I'd take it your not interested in the process of making your own design?

Re: your 2.5 way P17 project. Whose/what crossover did you use? Maybe it can be improved upon...

I've built Project 17, and can vouch for it's midrange and treble qualities. Bass is very good, and good extension for a 1/2cu ft box too. Cost comes to around $600 too!

Like you say, with a subwoofer you've got HT covered, as well as any music that goes thumpety bump (hip hop or electronic dance music)

:-)

Hi,

IMO your current speakers should be close to the Tempo sound quality.
