Alright, I'm ready to tackle my first speaker project. I listen to mostly rock and heavy metal so I'm not looking for audiophile perfection. To start out I plan on building one cabinet for now and fine tuning the crossover to my liking. If I like the result I'll build another one to match. Here is what I'm thinking for driver selection:
Tweeter: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=270-034 Mid: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=280-045 Woofer: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=295-315 I'm a little unsure about the tweeter selection. Most high end speakers I see have dome tweeters. I haven't really gotten to hear these very much, but it does seem that they put out more sound than I like compared to cone type tweets. I wish I had more money to spend on these components but currently there aren't many funds available. I can go slightly more expensive if it is going to be a justifiable improvement. Any help that anyone can toss out is greatly appreciated. |

boostin1989, the cost of the drivers you mentioned would come to about $87. sreten's driver cost will be about $132.
If that, combined with crossover parts, isn't far our of your budget...I would be inclined to agree with his suggestion. I haven't used the Dayton drivers in a full 3-way design, but I have them in a few 2-way designs. They have always given very good low end response. |
