Discuss! What methods are there and what is your experience of them?
I am thinking of methods for woofers by the way, not tweeters and not horns please. I know of slot loading as used in the BBC LS5/5 I think. I don’t really know a lot about it though. Anybody got some pictures of such designs and how to make them? Then there are phase plugs type things. How can you determine the sort you need? Things like on the PMC AML1 tweeter. A metal dome with holes in it. It supposedly changes dispersion and could be used on a woofer I suspect. What else can you think of? |

Hi,
Around 1KHz-3KHz on a 12" woofer. But I am interested in knowing about any method just for kicks! |

Something like this but for a slightly higher frequency might do - http://www.toaelectronics.com/spk0029.asp
That Xovers at 1KHz. Make the slot a little narrower and the range it helps diffuse will go up I think. Too much though and there will start to be effects of band-pass. I think I will just have to be empirical about it and try the different ideas I have. |
