Default help me crush these kenwoods.

So, My friend has 2 keenwod 12" tornado subs in his car. In a big ported box, that I think sound like garbage, He thinks they sound great. They have like 8mm xmax or something, the box is tuned to like 45hz ish i think

So anyways, Ive been sitting here for like an hour browsing posts and looking at speakers and stuff, when my friend walks in. Long story short, he gave me 200$ because I said I could get him some subs and help him build a box that would blow his kenwoods away for that much. Hopefully I didnt just dig myself into a hole.

Any thoughts as to what I should buy. I guess I should tell you some more details huh.

1994 VW golf. he has a 600 watt amp. and wants to keep at least half his trunk space I guess, we want better SQ and at least equal volume.

Was thinking a dayton reference 12" subwoofer. Or maybe (2) of those tangband w8-1363, or whatever tehre called lol.

any thoughts ?

So to recape, smallish, excellent SQ and a decent volume.
