Well, Ok, I'll allow it.
Sure, why not? Magnat did an all-plexiglass enclosure years ago that was quite beautiful. As mentioned in that thread, the issues with plexiglass is that it is soft (compared to glass) and easy to scratch. A heck of a lot easier to work with compared to glass tho... Mark

add less prone to breaking. My wife wants me to replace drab baltic birch open baffles with 3form ecoresion panels. (http://www.3-form.com/ ). Note a 4' x 8' x 3/4" sheet can cost 2k. I haven't inquired but I think you can have them cut, machined, and even bent to your specifications (at a price of course).

Hi,
You need a thick plexiglass , which is very expensive.Try to compare how thick plexiglass is required to be as rigid as 18mm plywood , for example. |

A long time ago, I bought a pair of plexiglass panels and mounted 4" Phillips full-range drivers into the middle of the panels. A friend liked them so much, he bought them. That project sure paid for itself!

PS: The panels I used were no more than 1/4" thick, maybe around 2 by 3 Ft in size. It was smoke collored and freestanding on wood blocks. Just open panels with a single driver near the middle. Not bassy of course, but sounded fine! If resonances were in the panel, it was not very obvious. I think I paid less than 100 for the pair of panels back then.
