Cross-talk between channels will only be an issue with amplifiers having source impedances that are not relatively close to zero. This shouldn't be a concern at all for any reasonable solid state amplifier, however the same is not true for a 0 fdbk single ended tube amplifier with a source impedance in the range of several ohms.

Hi,
the thread originator wanted to ADD a mono monitor to an existing stereo set up without adding an extra channel of amplification. On the crosstalk problem (or non problem), if the quiet channel has near zero output impedance, are you saying that the output will absorb the signal crossing from the active channel and thus prevent the quiet speaker receiving a part of the active signal?

Yes Andrew that is how output impedance controls loudspeakers - I'm sure you are aware of damping factor.
