Does anyone have any reviews they would like to share about the $1 Apex Jr tweeter? Seems like for a buck it wouldn't hurt to try a couple or 20 in a line array.
I would even be happy with finding out what size these are? Thanks. |

This tweeter pulls way above its "weight" class. I've used a lot of them (well over a 100 so far -- not a single one in a line array either -- gotta order some more too) as super tweeters with XO anywhere between 7 & 12k (1st order).
There is a thread here somewhere with them used in a line arrary. The "wings" can easily be trimmed off for a circular bezel (ie for mounting B&W style on the end of a tweeter pod). We also wave-guide load them using a 45 degree cutout and mount them from behind dave PS: Steve may still have the special diyAudio pricing on these

Here is another ap... these were designed to be ceiling speakers, they would be even better mounted on a wall. They use a pair of RS 40-1197s and are in an ~3" deep box (i think my buddy in LA that has them is interested in selling them too). This shows a similar technique for mounting the main drivers and creates quite an interesting looking shape. dave

Hey Dave, have you tried any mods to these? Maybe removed the plastic cap(phase shield?). Or disected one entirely? I have had my eye on these for some time and yours is the first report from someone I feel confident listening to.

The ones Scott played with had the phase shield removed... they are there for a reason. I've got a couple i have killed that i could dissect.

For this forum...
I still have this offer for DIY AUDIO members.. As per Dave's post "Planet 10" These $1.00 tweeters: If you mention this forum before ordering I will sell you these tweeters for 2 ea for $1.00. But you MUST mention this forum when ordering... I should also say I do have a $20.00 minimum order, so if you only want a few you should look at my website www.apexjr.com and see if there is anything else you might be interested in Steve @ Apex Jr. |

Steve :
Have you done any testing on those beasts ? Looks intriguing for an open baffle line array... TIA Jorge |
