Default 3” mid modified into a subwoofer

This driver is about 3” and it’s seriously modified, recoiled at .5ohms in a sealed 12mm MDF box surprisingly it produces very low frequencies. If positioned correctly it can be used as a computer sub with good output level the sound quality is not to good but reasonable conceding the filing cabinet is vibrating also, but man it pounds for a 3”

I interested in mini sub too. Can you post more pictures of the modification process?

looks interesting, Have you done any measurements? The T/s parameters would be interesting to look at.

There’s not much to show right now, I have only recoiled it at the moment, hopefully I’ll be changing the magnet structure when I gain some good knowledge about coils and magnets.

IMHO If i were to change something I would look at the spider. If you could use 2 or otherwise stiffen it should reduce vas alot, though increasing fs.
Your mechanical control would be better over the cone movement. This wouldnt help your efficiency but I think it would sound better. Adding cone mass would lower fs but giving up some mechanical control of the cone.

That is some of my understanding but its difficult to know where to go without some baseline T/s parameters.
So did changing the coil like you did increase the motor strength? You can provide alot more current but I would almost think going to less windings would reduce motor strength and efficiency.....
