I own a a pair of (Dual concentric) Tannoy 611 Mk1 Floorstanders. Great speakers except for sibilance problems. So far I've resisted temptation to play with the crossovers but my patience is wearing thin. I've changed the mid/treble speaker wire from stranded silver plated copper to solid core copper. I have lost a significant amount of fine detail but gained some relief from the harshness.
The later Mk11 versions reputedly address this problem and sound warmer by comparison. Does anyone here own a pair of MK11's and know the crossover values?? The drivers are supposedly different too but I kind of suspect that only the crossover is different. Any help would be very much appreciated. I don't have a great deal of experience with crossovers. My only thought would be to add a pad resistor across the tweeter but I don't know if that would upset the overall balance. Any help would be very much appreciated. Alternatively can anyone suggest an album without S,T, or cymbals?
