Default Dayton Woofer Tester II Anyone try this?

I have been thinking of buying the Dayton Woofer tester II from Parts Express. it looks like it would be a very cool and handy tool.

Has anyone tried this? what are your thoughts? do the results seem to be accurate?

What are the alternatives for this product for doing driver testing?

Loudspeaker testing is covered in a few places. For books "The Loudspeaker Design Cookbook" by Vance Dickanson is good. Or Testing Loudspeakers by Joseph D' Appolito.

This device measures by constant current. I'm sure its a very handy device but I might suggest running tests with the tools at hand to see if the results are sufficient. You would need a decent multimeter that can measure to 2 signifigant figures after the decimal at least.

Bass Box Pro has a build it calculator that is very handy. You need a box, a resistor, a multimeter, a amp and frequency generator(I use TrueRTA software)

Would you mind elaborate on the method using bass box pro?
Thanks

It's basically walks through the same procedure but its just faster then doing all the math and no worry for mistakes in that regard. It uses a method where you put a known resistor in series with the speaker. Since the speaker impedence changes with frequency and you measure the voltage drops you can get a graph of impedence. You do the same thing with the speaker in a known box volume do some more measurements and Bassbox does the calculations and puts out the parameters.
You can also measure passive radiators with it.

Doesnt the DWTII do all that for you? I mean it is only $159.00 and if it will do all the measurments in one shot, im all for it. it also sounds like it would be more accurate then trying to plot a graph myself hahahah i would probably mess that up!

yes, Bass box pro($179?) allows you to do modelling and speaker testing is sort of a small bonus, I've never actually gone through and measured a speaker completely without bass box.

I looked at the same woofer tester but thats more then I've spent on speakers themself for in the house.
