hi, is there an easy way to measure the impedence of a speaker driver?

An ohm meter will get you in the ball park of the nominal impedance. Otherwise you need to do a sweep against frequency and plot the curve.

its just for an idea of finding out what the impedence for my Tannoy TS8 sub is so that i could use different drivers, tannoy wont give me any 'techinical' details about the amp!

Just measure it's resistance with a multi-meter, it will read about 75% of it's nominal impedance, so a 4 ohm driver will read about 3 ohms, and an 8 ohm driver will read about 6 ohms.

If you did do a sweep and plot the curve it's only going to confuse you MUCH more - as it makes it less clear really!.

Yes now that I see what you're actually wanting to achieve just use a meter.

Bear in mind if the sub is vented you need to do deeper investigation into driver specs and box tuning. There might also be some equalisation in the sub that you need to consider.

its sealed, planning on using either the same driver in the same sized cabinet, or use a different driver in abigger enclosure.
