Has anyone used a gainclone with ribbons?
I have a pair of Aurum Cantus, and partly having paid a good sum for all the drivers in an active system, am hoping to not spend too much on the amps. Having used Apogees in the past, where I found that most amps put a big veil over the “ribbon magic”, Some of the premium PD gainclones have fantastic insight into the music, but for me a hardness that I could not live with. Who’s heard a gainclone (with the AC’s 100 dB efficiency, 30 or even 10 watts would be enough) driving “pure” ribbons? Or do a small class A, eg the Aleph 10? Thanks |
