I was pumping the numbers for zaph's XG18 MTM (http://www.zaphaudio.com/audio-speaker16.html) into WinISDPro to double check some curves and see what effects volume changes would make.
I have a concern mabye one of you folks could answer. 1. The excursion of these driver's in the standard vented 2 cu ft enclosure listed show it will only handle about 35W of system power before reaching overexcursion in the 50hz range. Seems like a very small amount of power considering the driver's lower efficiency. I had to input driver specs manually, I guess my question is in WinISDPro the Xmax I entered was 5mm as listed on Solen's website. Should I have entered 10mm for peak-peak instead? How does WinISD want to see it? A last curious question about this system: Can this system play loud? Not rock-concert loud, but louder than my CSS FR125's Singles? They bottom out before my ears do, and it's not really enough to fill the room and down the hall. (12'x20') |

I added a 6.8 extremis to the program using the same methodology and it looks like performance won't be an issue, SPL and Extension at "safe" excursion levels are really close. I can push the Extremis further, but I want the mid-range performance of the pair of XG18's. The XG is cheaper too.
