Hi

I'm just after everybodys opinion about tweeter selection. can someone please explain which specifications should be used to decide. Ive been using Sensitivity, Impededance, freq range but not too sure why, what are good figures?

Seas 27TBFC/G and Peerless 811830, both have 92 dB SPL, 1.5kHz - 20kHz but one with 6 ohms and one with 8 ohms.

Which would you choice.

These parameters sometimes imply things about the quality of tweeters, but you can't just judge a tweeter based on them.

You might choose one with a sensitivity to match your mid/woofer (or slightly higher). You might choose one with an fs a couple of octaves below your desired crossover point. etc.

Other than matching specs and measurements to your needs, your next best resource might be sites like zaph's. Listening tests are sometimes the best way to do it.

Well first depending on your application you might need a certain impedence or sensitivty etc. Once you have that down figure out how low you want to cross over and then find the remaining ones that would fit your choice. Sites like Zaph's and Mark K's are great because they have distortion curves which manufacturers almost never publish. If you know how to properly interpret these curves you can end up picking an excellent tweeter. However everything is application dependent.
