After 9 months of hard work, listening, simulation, change of drivers etc GALTIS is now playing lovely music in my livingroom. The project started with Vifa XT 25 tweeters and 4 Scanspeak 18w/8542 bas/mid drivers. I couldnt get these drivers to play well and after doing measurements on the drivers (weird results) I desided to go for the bass drivers fron the ProAc clones, Scanspeak 18w/8535. The mid drivers are now Scanspeak 18w/8545 and the tweeters are still Vifa XT25. The mid 18w/8545 and the XT 25 are playing together in a sealed cabinet, and the 18w/8535 in a ported cabinet. I tried to make the speaker a 2½ way system but the bass turned out to boomy. It is now a 3 way system and the sound is wery balanced.
Compared to the ProAc clones GALTIS is a clear uppgrade, on every point. Except maybe that the clones were more "forgiving". GALTIS brings out everything from the recordings, good and bad.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

I use a tweaked Denon DCD-1650AR cd player, Copland CSA 303 hybridpreamp and Copland CTA 505 tube poweramp. Nordost Red Dawn interconnect and speakercables. The sound according to me is absolutely lovely :D
