Default Do I see a bargain in these non-working woofers?

On the Australian ebay site there are a couple of Meyer Sound 18" speakers on sale. They dont work.
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/5-x-Meyer-18-...QQcmdZViewItem

Im in a situation where it would be extremely good if I can get my hands on any decent working high efficiency 18" woofer.

Normally I cant afford these drivers. But I can afford a "generic" 18" reconing.

I dont care that the driver must be restored to original condition, I just want a working 18" driver using their motors which I suspect are well made.

What I want to know is, what situations where a full reconing wont make the driver work again?

Hi,

As far as I know a full reconing will always work.

Yes, you should be fine with a recone kit. There is a very small posibility that the basket has mechanical damage from mishandling, but in over ten years in the industry I only ever saw one example, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Okay thats great news.

what possibilities where a full reconing(intended for 18" PA drivers) with the right voice coil diameter wont "fit" the drivers in question?

Gap size? Are gap sizes in the PA realm standardised?
