thankfully I had not yet thrown out the Feb 16th issue of EDN -- Troy Murphy of Analog Devices describes an 8th order Bessel filter design with THD+N in the vicinity of 0.0006% -- this particular design is for a 30kHz LPF. The design uses low value resistors and low noise opamps to achieve this TDH+N.
