I have Event 20/20 monitors that I want to wire to a Samson power amp. The speaker has a balanced ¼” (or XLR) input. I need to wire this to the Samson 5-way binding post output. But is appears that it only accepts (+) and (-) wires; the balanced 1/4'’ cable or the XLR cable will have 3 wires. Is it possible to wire a balanced end to a binding post? And how would I do it?
Thanks, RC |

Maybe I didn’t describe it properly. No, I do not think an XLR is ¼”, that’s why the XLR is in quotes. It’s a combo, and accepts either ¼” balanced plug, OR an XLR plug. Most higher-end studio monitors come with this type. But my question remains the same. An unbalanced ¼” has 2 wires and a balanced 3. Can I wire the balanced cable to the binding posts?

Are the speakers self powered?. If so, you need line level signal, not speaker level. You should be coming straight out of the desk.
