I really want to build my own home theater speaker system, but I'm not too sure on where to start learning how to build them? Anyone know of any guides on how to build your own speakers? Thanks in advance.

There are plenty of books and so on availible that can give you the information you need in order to build your own speaker systems, personally though, assuming your comfortable with the woodworking side of things i would either build some kits, or a well respected design from say:
http://www.zaphaudio.com/ or http://www.partsexpress.com/projects...homeaudio.html for example, search the forums and the internet and find out what other people in your shoes have done. |

Some would say start with kit loudspeakers. Others would say get some woofers, build a closed box for them then add some tweeters and learn along the way.
Maybe you're one that likes to jump right in. If so you could copy a DIY design out on the net. Beware, once you've built your own speakers you may want to build more |

Thanks Indm. There are quite a few good articles in the Loudspeaker wiki to help the newbie.

Really the first thing you need to do is establish a budget, if this is for a home theatre i would seriously consider building a subwoofer first since the design is the simplest and working from there.

That's a wonderful webage rabbitz.
Would that be a nice candidate for the following? diyAudio reference speaker project Are there direct equivalents for the drivers available at madisound or partsexpress? I wasn't able to cross reference them. |
