Default ScanSpeak 9700 & Audiotech 18H C-quenze.

Hey...

Dos anybody here have any experience with the combination of : ScanSpeak D2905/9700 and Audiotechnology (Skaaning) C-Quenze 18H52-17-06 SD. ?

X over type, best cross over frq. and best filter order?..

Dos anybody have any good solutions?

Also in combination with an 12" Peerless bas? (315SWR) in 120 liter closed box.

The 18H. driver will work in a 14 liter closed box.

Right now i cross over at 190 Hz. (2½ vay) and the 18H have full baffl compensation and therfore a sensetivity at around 86 - 87 db.

I use at 2 order at 2,2 Khz. between tweater (9700) and mid. there right now is an ScanSpeak 18W/8546-00, (but this will soon be replaced with the 18H C-quenze) that works fine..

BUT!

I would like til cross a little higer and get alittle more sensetivity and less baffl comp. for "mid" (18H)

Anybody got an idea??

Default 15H vs. 18H???

I dont think the 15H will have enough impact in lower mid. and upper bass, to propperly work together with a 12"??

I think the 18H will do better there (its realey a 5" and the 15 H is in realety a 4")

Maby im wrong!? but i think so..

My experience is that it takes minimum a 5" to reach "down" to a larger than 8" - 10" bass driver..

This despite that i plan to cross over a bit higher than the 190 - 200 Hz. that i do now.. ( about 300 - 350 Hz.)

I now use a 12" bass system and the top system must be able to also work together with a 15" bass system.

If I well remember the 15H have a SD= 96 cm2, so it is a sort
of 5-3/4"....
Power handling? This little monster do not have problems,IMHO.
Sonus faber employ it without problem also.......
With a 15", anyway the problems start. Maybe 4 way better?

Cheers,
Inertial

Default 18H vs. 15H

Il'l stick with the 18H (SD : 132 cm2) it's a real monster to!...

I want some versetility.. and this driver will work in 2½ & 3 way with anything up to 15"

I know og some who has build with the Flexunit version of it ( the C-quence is a refined version og the Flexunits from Audiotech.)

And it works fine.. near perfect integration with bort a 12" and a 15" driver.

They alle use a 1 order solution between the mid. & a 9700 tweeter..

5,5uF. + 2,2 ohm and 22 ohm parallel on tweeter and at 1,8 mH. coil on mid./bas. driver.. the whole filter (both drivers) impedans corrected with a 56 uF + 6,8 ohm and 0,33 mH. correction circut.

(the 12" uses a 15 mH. coil and a 68 uF. parallel) 2½ way configuration (closed box for mid. )

I just dont think this filter is totaly optimal in my ears..

I want to go for a 2 order solution..

I got one that works with the 9700 and a 18W/8546-00, il'l try and see if it will work with the 18H. to.

They are electrical identical and behave quite similar in impedance and frq.

As mentiont i also want to try a higher x over for more sensetivity, this means a whole new filter configuration.

I will contact a freind that can messure speakers, and get his help, but first i want to hear if anybody here have any experience with this drivers and the questions i here come with /plans i have...
