An otherwise healthy SI T amp doesn't get along with the Soundmax soundcard in my Dell. Once in circuit with the Wallin jig, it emits a 'ticking' beat irrespective of volume setting. No signal throughput. A tube amp in the same setup works fine (I'm surrounded by tube amps and only have this one SS amp). Anyone have any ideas why the soundcard and T amp won't talk to each other?
Brian

Probably because the T-amp is a full-bridge output, and the Wallin jig ties one side to ground/common. The digital/switching amps are not good choices to use for this type of measurement app for that reason - the two outputs need to be isolated from the signal ground. You can do it with cap coupling, but then you're introducing a high-pass which you have to be careful about.

Thanks for the reply.
I've also tried an otherwise quiet p-p tube amp that hums when connected through the Wallin jig. What amps are Wallin jig users, using? Brian
