1.) Does An Alpha HAVE to be configured as a Staight line? Can it be folded at all?
2.) Is the Crossectional formula result a Fixed reqirement? Or can you narrow it, and adjust the length? Thanks, Jon King |

1) No. Yes. 2) No, there's some flexibility, especially if you're willing to reduce stuffing and accept the increased ripple in its passband. If you increase the length, then you lower Fp, ergo the CSA has to increase for a given Qp and vice versa. Bottom line, net Vp needs to be ~constant and there's a ~ half octave Fp flexibility on either side of the optimum without an obviously audible difference in free space, but room modes can of course affect this.
