Default Ribbon Internal Connections

I inherited a ESS Tempest speaker system with the lower grade ribbon tweeters. One of the leads from the internal ribbon assy was detached on one of the tweeters. I disassembled the good tweeter far enough to see where the lead was supposed to be attached and how it was attached.
It was just attached to the foil by something that looks like clear RTV (silicone sealant). I have tried doing this using Permatex Clear RTV Silicone but the contact between the wire and foil is eventually lost ( in about an hour). I have searched this site, and the web, but haven't found a specific discussion of the
connection method. Could someone please clue me in or point me to a source? Thanks, Vic

I wonder if you could use liquid solder?

Look again.

There must be something else helping make the connection. Many internal ribbon connections are made with mechanical pressure. Look again.

Good luck

Your's was one of the sites I looked at in my search for adhesives and I admire your work.
But I when I tell you that the wires are held on with smutz that is exactly what I mean. It defies my sense of good engineering but that is what they did. Thanks anyway, Vic

Amazing....hmmmm....don't know what to think.

Well perhaps Cal has it right, some sort of cold chemical soldier.

If I get a chance I'll ask one of our engineers his suggestion, and post anything he might add.

A websearch should also be in order.

Best Regards !
