Has anyone got any reccomdations for a decent PC sound card for PC based test and measurement.
I currently have a Hercules Muse XL which is OK for general use. However when I use a PC based signal generator the output is very badly distorted and high frequencies. I guess that the ADC converter is as bad when taking measurements. I've been looking at the Creative Pure Bit USB External (£40)which is 24bit 96Khz. I know there is better spec'ed ones out there but my PC T&M software supports upto 16bit 96Khz. This won't just be used for testing speakers, I would like a good clean sine wave & clean measurements by the ADC upto 20Khz. Anyone????

Personally, i own a Creative Sound Blaster Live 24bit. It has the same DAC as the Audigy2 ZS, but it has an even better ADC, so it should meet your demands. It's about 30$ bulk <=> bargain

Thanks for the speed reply.
I meant a Sound Blaster Live 24bit external, not Pure. I have no idea where I got that from. I guess you have the internal version.

I'm saying get the internal version, 'cause i'm not sure whether Creative changed anything in the external version. And i'm betting that "inside" information is somewhat scarce
