Default best ht bookshelf for me?

Hello I am looking to build a set of bookshelf speakers (and eventualy a powered sub) for my ht.
I currently have a sony integrated receiver that is rated at 100x5 that came with some crappy cubes and a 50 watt powered sub.
My budget will be pretty limited
One design I have looked at and I am leaning toward at the moment is a design using dayton drivers I saw on parts express

http://www.partsexpress.com/projects...dht/index.html

any constructive input would be apreciated

Does that mean you need help with the building?

That looks like a great place to start. Dayton drivers are known for a good price point and the design is there for you. Two questions:

Will you be using this for music?

Have you heard titanium domes and do you like them?

I guess that's three questions.

One more: Do you have a great big TV and an HD box?

If so, is this going to be big enough for you? Wait, you said the budget is limited. I'd say this is good value.

I could certainly use the help if you are offering
I will be listening to some music, but mostly tv and movies.
I haven't spent any serios time listening to Ti domes, however I did have some aluminum domes in my car and liked them pretty well.
I only have a 27 inch flat screen crt no hd yet. Its hard to afford alot when you have to support 2 kids and a wife.

This is also my first leap into diy home audio. I have done quite a bit of car stereo, and I install a decent amount of ht equipment on yachts as I am a marine electronics technician/installer

Then with what you've said, that looks fine. And with what you do, you probably know that.

If I'm gonna help with the cabinets, I'll need a plane ticket, a spare bedroom, food, beer and if by chance you can get Jimmy Buffett to drop by, they're be no charge for the labour.

EDIT: If you look at the XO you'll see someone thinks this combo is worth the time.

Spare bedroom check, beer check, food check, I have no money so no go on the plane ticket. oh well I guess I have to do it myself.

On a side note I have actually worked on Jimmy buffets boat, however I don't think I could get him to stop by.

May I worship the ground on which you walk? He's been my fave for years. I have two sets of speakers named after him.

I noticed my grammar took a slide in that last post: "they're be no charge..."

Must have had one of those previously mentioned beers before typing.

Which ever project you choose. keep us abreast.

I built a set of those and for HT, they're wonderful. Off axis performance isn't the best but Top Gun sounds great through them once you get the placement right. For music, they're a bit harsh but they'll definitely do the trick in a pinch, (I use them for background light jazz over dinner every now and then and they work pretty well for that). Don't plan on using them without a sub for too long though, by themselves, they're just not designed to put out very much low end.

I put together the first cabinet tonight. It will be a little while before I can purchase the drivers and crossover parts but I already had a sheet and a half of .75 mdf laying around so I figured Id go ahead and start putting together cabinets. I will try to post some pics tommorow evening. Also I do have a powered sub already (as crappy as it is I am not sure you could realy call it a sub) but it will have to do for now. It is a 50 watt sony that came with my receiver and speakers. It does have an 8 inch driver though. well thats all for now
