Makes sense to me, but then I understand the principle.

As for noise, I have done this kind of thing before, and run up to about 200Hz, but that was with 10" drivers. It is probably worth just fixing one to a bit of sheet material and having a listen with a signal generator.

200hz isn't so bad... and these blatently won't be close in pure quality terms to my current mid/basses so I don't want to make them play too high! Got to make a trade-off between overall headroom/power distribution and the cheap drivers spoiling the gentle music!

After work and the gym and cooking it's always too late to do anything on a week day, but I'm gonna try to get some work on this done on Saturday!

Ok, if anyone's interested (or not ) it's time for an update, a picture update.

My friend modelled the cabinets in Autocad.

Here's some MDF, including the front baffle, prior to cutting. B&Q were happy to do all my straight cutting for free (well, the friendly old chap working the circular saw was, anyway).

Showing just the internal front drivers resting against the baffle. You can see the port will be a slot.

I am having to trim the driver chassis on the internal drivers to fit inside the extremely narrow boxes. I will also have to route a portion off the side panels to let them sit correctly against the front and rear baffles.

For this prototype I'm not sealing the drivers with anything that costs me money, although, frankly I'm not sure this masking tape on frame and cutout will be a good enough seal...what is a good enough seal, must it be perfect?

Looking good Simon!

I use foam draft proofing strip for sealing drivers, cheap, and works well. You could use blutack or similar for a test box.

Good morning and thanks PM, that is a good tip.

Does this wiring look correct to you? I find it hard to get my head around, but I think this config gives 8 ohms, which is the best I can get with 8 drivers I think.
