I've recently been looking into this as well, but haven't got as far as ordering. I'm interested in getting a custom machined baffle made for a M-T-M type enclosure, but using a compression driver instead of dome tweet (this will be a high-eff design)
Was thinking of getting the 'face' of the horn machined as an integral part of the baffle, and glueing machined slabs of MDF behind that to produce the rest of the horn length. Really this is just like all the injection-moulded PA cabs out there such as JBL's EON stuff. Looks like 'inexpensive' is a relative term when it comes to custom CNC, and if you the buyer can produce all the CAD files up front then your costs will be minimised. I'm going to hack my way thru a prototype enclosure or 2 before I commit £££'s to CNC. cheers, Len. |
