I've been trying to construct some wood horns (salad bowl style) 12,15,18 inch, but have been unable to do a consistent, satisfactory job by hand on my lathe ( much harder than I thought). I have been talking with someone with access to cnc machines who can make them to extreme tolerances. My first ones will probably be russian birch marine ply instead of hardwoods to keep costs down. Mounting flange will have to be a removable last ring, countersunk to flushmount the driver bolts and screwed to the horn. Maybe a nice aluminum plate someday down the road. Commercial horns of this size as you know are 1k and up (hence the need for diy), I think I can get them done for half that. I want to have a smaller pair made to see how it turns out, and go larger from there. I thought if others were interested I might be able to get a better price, if not I will just try and have a couple pair made and try to sell the horns I don't keep for myself on Audiogon or Ebay. Anyway, let me know if you would be interested in something like this. Thanks Matt
