I am looking to change some tweeter drives on a speaker kit I made a while back. Is it as easy as just getting a better drive's and replacing them, or will some drives only really work with a certain cross over box design and bass/mid unit. What I am really asking is their a bit more science to the whole thing then just getting new drives.

At the moment I have Treble: Scan-speak D2905-9700 soft dome tweeter
90dB ~ 6 ohm ~ 104mm o/dia ~ 44mm deep ~ 28mm vc ~ 225w power ~ 500Hz Fs ~2-30kHz range

Looking at R2904-700000 Ring Radiator Tweeter
94.5dB ~ 4 ohm ~ 104mm o/dia ~ 31mm deep ~ 25mm vc ~ 150w power ~ 520Hz Fs ~ 2-40kHz range

I know it would be a big step up but have been offered them at half the price of new cost, costing about the same as the drives I already have.

Thanks
