My Current project is a 2 way design using Bandor-50s for the top end and Seas L22 for the bass. I am so impressed with the sound of the Bandors on thir own that instead of building both drivers into one cabinet, I have decided to split the box into 2 seperate cabinets.
So the Bandor will sit in about 1.5l each and the boxes will be around 5.5" high and wide, and about 8" deep. this will sit on top of the Seas cabinet which will be built to about 10-12l I think, 5.5" wide again, 9" deep and as high as need be to get the bandors at ear level. So I have 2 boxes and the bandor needs to sit on top of the Seas, how do I isolate the two boxes, spikes, rubber feet etc, what does anyone suggest. the reasons for the 2 box method are: I can stand mount just the Bandors and use a seperate sub if I want at a later date, I can easily move the Bandor on top of the seas to time align the drivers. I want to! So what sould be a suitable way of mounting one box on the other? thanks |

There are probably a hundred ways of doing it but if you put it on any sort of pedestal or feet, aren't you separating the drivers more than you want? Doesn't that also interupt the continuous baffle effect?
I think you might want to get a piece of the rubbery material that is used for placemats on boats to stop the dishes from sliding. I can't remeber the name but it's become quite popular as of late. You can often get it at the hardware store. It would prevent the upper box from moving once you have them time aligned. I have used that stuff and also velcro to hold speakers in place. Just a thought. |

I just use a piece of felt PVA glued to the base of the satellite.
