Question changing t/s parameters

I have 2 questions:

1. Suppose i have a loudspeaker. What should i do with it (buying a new one doesn't count ) if i want to increase Fs and also Qts? Is it possible?

2. If i have a loudspeaker with phase plug..what would happen with T/S parameters if i remove phase plug and cover the hole with ordinary dustcap?

thanks.

I doubt you can make Fs higher as that will require lightening the cone. Making it heavier (which lowers Fs) is pretty easy, stick stuff on it. This will also raise Qts.

Changing a phase plug to a dust cap shouldn't affect the T/S parameters. It will affect the sound though.

Why do you want to change the T/S parameters? There may be an easier way to achieve what you want.

Maybe it is a stupid reason, but..loudspeaker with higher Fs and Qts just sounds better mounted in car door (sort of infinite baffle or very big seald box). Till now i had them in boxes with 8L, but from now on that isn't possible anymore..

Cms would of course fall, Vas would fall, Qts would rise. But it’s a difficult surgery to change the spider, you should consider that manufacturers use some special glue, among other things, and that alignment in the gap with your hands isn’t an easy task.

Thalis

I know someone who repairs loudspeakers, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Wouldn't it just be easier to buy new drivers and use your others for something else?

I just wouldn't like to pay much $$$ for new speakers. My old one with this little tweak could also sound much better (or worse )
