I have about 12l to play with in my current design, could go a bit larger but nothing huge. so can I do anything with this driver apart from sealed with a Linkwitz transform? would just sealed work well? I have no experience of using this driver yet.

Sealed in a 12 liter will give you an F3 of about 60 hz, and a Qtc of close to .7. This is from my own actual TS measurements.
Be sure you use that in a three way. It's not a driver friendly to 2-way operation at all.

Well its going in a 2 way but with a wide band 'tweet' Xover will be possibly be 150Hz 1st order, or there abouts.

While I remember, I pulled one of the phase plugs out (ham fisted curiosity
I'm thinking, this driver has enough mechanical excursion for the coil to come completely out of the motor! now surely I have an issue with the VC having a pole piece through it on the instroke and nothing on the out stroke, so changing the VCs inductance. Would there be any benefit in replacing the phase plug with a non magnetic metallic replacement? |

its not broken, its just doubling up as a jigsaw puzzle
I wanted to see if you could remove the phase plugs as IMHO they make the drivers look a bit cheap in comparison to say the Excel units. I was possibly planning on making aluminium or stainless steel replacements and anodising or powder coating them, just for asthetics (I can be so vain sometimes |
