Default Need 10" equal to JBL 2118

Looking for a nice 10" midbass, need to be high effeciency (93 dB +)...not a huge motor assembly, and at a reasonable price.

So far the B&C neo motored drivers look like a good alternative.

Hi Winslow,

PHL make some nice high efficiency 10" mids. 3420 and 3450 could be possible candidates.

Motor assemblies tend to be more powerful in high efficiency drivers.

BTW the JBL 2118 is an 8" driver.

Cheers,
Ralph.

Thanks for the suggestions. Yeah, the JBL is an 8, and probably one of my favorite sounding midbasses that I've heard...trying to get something like it or better in a 10.

Hi there,

I found this place where they apparently sell JBL drivers including the one you mentionned :

Thanks! If I need to go back down to an 8, I'll take a look at them. However, looking for something similar in sound (or better) in a 10.

I have a pair of VOLT BM251.4s (I'm guessing these will be destined for the car) which I may yet be running with Veritas horns, the BM251.3s may be more what you want.

Also the 9" ATC pro audio drivers sound fantastic (I also have a pair of them in case the Volts don't quite cut it)

I have some 10" JBL 2123J's that are excellent - more sensitive, lower distortion, ect.. You can have a pair for $150.00

Email me if interested

Exactly what I was going to suggest. Though, to not limit the search, the newer JBL 2012 10" driver should also work... its FR is even closer to that of a 2118H or J.

Altenatively, if you can find a pair of dead JBL LE10s, K110 or E110 10" drivers, they can be reconed as 2123s. While some people poo-poo aftermarket recone kits, in a case like this, they can be used with very good results. Just make sure the reconer actually uses the CORRECT EDGE WOUND voice coil, and you should be fine...

Regards,
Gordon.
