WHD, 2" (CAL 50) midrange domes. Are they any god? There seam to be next to no info at all on the web on them.
The intended use is ~900 hz to 7 kHz. 2 Hds 164 at the bottom and a god 2/3" tweeter (or maybe I will try a CTS piezo horn, cut HIGH...) at the top. Leif |

Hi Leif,
I couldn't find anything resembling that driver either, but I do like dome mids. I am using some 2" ers right now and am happy. Can you post a pic or two of the mids? Also, I'd stick with a dome tweeter for the dome mid. To me, piezos are for when you need a cheap PA tweeter, you can't afford a real tweeter, or you're looking to punish the dog. If you've got a pic, maybe someone can help identify it. |

Hi Cal,
Here's a pic: http://home.swipnet.se/Karlssons/speeker/CAL%2050.gif Well, since I don't have a dog... No, but seriously, Im 32 so I have more less grown up with them (piezo), and while they lack allot I believe at least some of it's bad name comes from people using them without xover (105 db piezo horn + 87 db 10" woofer, maybe with a coil on the woofer...) What whey do have is some resolution & detail that I like. That said, a small titan dome is a more likely candidate... BTW: What middome do you use? Leif |

WHD was a German manufacturer that was quite fashionable (components and kits) at the end of the seventies/beginning of the eighties. They were in approx the same quality category as ITT drivers for instance.
I don't know if they are still in business though. Regards Charles |

I have corrected the title of your thread. However if you meant that this dome was truely worth worshipping as a deity, then I'll change it back.

Leif,
I'd have to confirm with planet10 but I believe it is a Coral. It came from this set. Oh and about the piezos, I used to use them a lot as I wasn't exactly rich in the old days so piezos were fine. Now that I don't have to use them anymore, I don't. The detail is nice but the sound is unnatural to me. Great for parties but not for serious listening. |

And this is where they ended up. This is the front and back of my "quiet" system
