Omnidirectional enclosures and problems encountered

All I really mean by "omnidirectional enclosure" is an enclosure that has speakers on both sides. I have some real omnidirectional Linaeum tweeters and I want to build some speakers to match. I have some two way speakers that are constructed in the manner I have desribed, they sound fine,but they are ugly and I don't want to use them.

Are there any problems with building speaker's like this? Should the opposing speakers be wired 180 degrees out of phase? Any suggested articles or reading?

Neither of what you describe are omni directional.

Speakers on both sides are bipoles. Dipoles only have one speaker on the front and no back wall of the enclosure.

A lineaum tweeter is a dipole.

Omnidirectional speakers usually fire upwards into a cone that disperses the wave.

Sorry to sound like a complete newbie; I really know pathetically less than I should about speakers.

Hi

Why not have a look at this site
and maybe make a DIY miniature version
to meet your needs. There is very little
to a Linaeum. I have 8 and I am pleased
with the performance. Even better with
Neo magnets and silk diaphrams.

Hi
While SL is indeed one of the major
successful advocates of dipoles and also to a lesser
extent omnis (Pluto) He seems to prefer
high frequencies about 1.5k or so come from
monopole drivers. Of course others such as
the Alons can go dipole all the way and it seems
now the new Pipedream non-array speakers have
Hf dipoles and so do the opposite! It is
interesting to note that tri-amplification is
SL's preferred solution and he is also one of the
few who managed a Passive Dipole system in
the Audio Artistry Vivaldi. I must say I am a dipole fan
even if I am doing a slightly different
approach using a dipole array of 16 3" drivers
for the midrange. I recall a very nice dipole setup was a
WAR Audio passive Cabasse/Raven 3.1 Speaker The panel
was about 50mm+ (2in) thick! Oh yes I still like my Linaeums.
Now that they are not available I may have to build some.
I am currently using a set of small spheres (in Pluto style)
omni mode crossing to a linaeum for the hf. It serves me well
in my bedroom !
Read the SL Pluto notes and overcome some of the omni hurdles
it seem Mr L has !

Its all about design optimising and your own prefences.
