Hi all,
say I want to replace an 8 ohm midbass driver with a nigh on identical unit but it has 4 ohm nominal impedance. I have the crossover details for the 8 ohm unit. I don't think I should simply scale the crossover parts to 4 ohm because isn't the real issue the inductance of the drivers ? So my question is : what would be the typical difference in inductance of 8 and 4 ohm versions of the same driver ? (no sensistivity issues as the tweeter has an L-pad) |

You will need to modify the x-over to suit the 4 ohm impedance, the inductance of the driver does play a role but it's not primary one.
I would assume the 4 ohm version would have a lower inductance all else being equal. |
