I need to add simple open cell sound absorbing foam over a large area (gypsum/drywall).. The problem is that it has to stay up for 1-2 months and then be removed with mimimal damage. Do any of you have any suggestions or experience doing this? My first idea would be some double stick tape/foam tape.
Thanks in advance. |

I'd just use small staples or nails, personally, maybe with some kind of washer arrangement to keep the foam from tearing. It might sound crazy, but it seems to me that with any adhesive tape you run the risk of causing large visible damage if it decides to take the paint off with it, or doesn't come off at all. With nails you just rub a little spackle in the hole, maybe touch up the paint and you're set.

I'd just glue it onto some other drywall, and lean that against the wall, maybe with just one or two nails at the top to stop it falling.

Some fishing line across the top of the wall and clip hanging the foam like hanging negatives in a darkroom.
