Tweeter Attenuation

Could any problems be caused by sticking a resistor in series with a Tweeter as opposed to an L-Pad? Apart from impedance, what are the differences?

Different impedance is enough to hose your crossover curve: that might qualify as a problem.

Do it all the time instead of L-pads but you have to allow for the added resistance and recalculate the crossover at every change.

There's a good section on it in the LDC by Vance Dickason section 7.60.

Why do you not want to have an l-pad in the crossover. Resistors are cheap, so I don't see any reason to not use an l-pad.

Lpads oxidize

over time, & get scratchy; you probably won't change the setting much after the initial excitement of playing with your new creation; resistors are cheaper.

I have an old pair of Sansuis given to me because the previous owner thought they were faulty; I just replaced the L pad with a resistor & have a excellent pair of speakers for the price of a couple of resistors.

That parallel resistor adds a bit of electrical damping... Considering the price of resistors, not the exotic sort, I'd say go with L-Pads.
