audio whats best

Just bought a cheap dvd player for the bedroom (second system which should play everything)
Only problem is although it supports 5\1 surround decoder it still needs a reciever(amplifier)
so i have got hold of a cheap set of speakers\supwoofer with built in amplifier with its own power source..
only problem is the audio connections
on the dvd player there is the normal
1=5\1 channel audio out center, subwoofer, front, left
other connections include
2=optical(digital audio out jack)
3=s-video out
4=component/progressive scan video out
5=video out
6=audio out (left\right
7=coaxial (digital audio out jack)
8=and scart

now on the subwoofer system with built in amp there is
the 5\1 as said before that all the speakers go into and 3 other connections which are
1=cen/woolf in
2=sterio in/front in
3=rear in

this is what it says in the subwoofer system
connection to a 5\1 sound source
1 connect the signal input plug coming from your sound source to the subwoofer(sterio in front in)
2 now connect the next signal input plug coming from your sound source to the subwoofer(rear in)
3connect the signal input plug coming from your sound sourceto the subwoofer (cen/woof in)
4 connect the speakers to the sub system as shown ie the 5 speakers as normal (this bit im ok with)
any ideas anyone

remember this is a second system so it dont matter quality
