Default Looking for some ideas/suggestions for HT speakers

Hi all

I'm just finishing my basement and have a pseudo-dedicated home theater space (about 14' x 17' with the back of the "room" having a halfwall to delineate the space but still keep the basement open). At the moment i have a pair of Audax MTM's from their home theater design collection (yeah they are a little old) which i could use for the fronts but i'd much rather come up with a full set (5 speakers to start) that all use the same or similar drivers. 1 caveat - these cannot be too pricey - i just ordered sub drivers and they set me back a fair bit!

Amplifier power is in the 100 watt per channel range and the speakers will also be used for music.

Any ideas/designs would be greatly appreciated!

Scott

If you go full range, you save on the tweeters and XO, allowing a couple of more bucks for the drivers. Have you considered the CSS FR125? There are many threads on these forums, do a search if you aren't familiar with them.

Here's where to get them:

Hi Cal

It's funny you mentioned that; I did have a look at those drivers but i wasn't sure about their max SPL and power handling.

I also read several threads on dipole design but was shying away as no one seems to be using that arrangement for HT.

Would those drivers do the job?

Default Audax Kit

If you already have the Audax MTM's, you could just buy the matching center channel and surrounds here (http://madisound.com/audaxhometheater.html), unless your Audax MTM's are different than those in the kit. That would be cost effective.
