I bought a couple of cheap Soundlab "disco" speakers a while ago. Now I'm fully aware that the 15" driver is likely to be ineficient, because:
They were cheap: The drivers are completly anonymous (unmarked). There were no performance details supplied ( not even lies) So its time to concider upgrading to a name driver, but how much could I gain in terms of output and audio quality? I've seen drivers as high as 97db at 200Hz. If what I am using is as poor as 94db, I could double my output. I could also increase output by changing from 8ohm to 4 ohm........ at the expence of stressing the amp. Has anyone got any reliable figures for Eastern gear? |
