Default binding post components are making me dizzy

Hi,

I bought a nice set of binding posts. I'm used to the cheap kind which have two or three parts. Well, this set has 7 per binding post. Can someone describe to me how these are designed to go together?

And the picture doesn't show that part of the shaft, toward the left, is flattened, I think to "key" it.

I'm so ashamed...

Dave

hi
id assume it would go binding post inserted from outside the cabint>black round thing (with taper towards outside of cabinet)>cabinet wall> flat washer >spiky washer> first nut up tight> then second nut to lock the first one on and stop it coming undone.

not sure why theres 2 black round thing tho . . . .
good luck,
matto.

Yeah, it's the 2nd round black thingy that has me bumfuzzled. Perhaps it's just a spare part.

Thanks for the suggestion.

The second black thing is for metal chassis to isolate the posts/nut from the chassis.

The second black plastic part is used when the binding posts are installed through a metal sheet. The two plastic parts keep the metal body from touching the mounting metal plate.

Peter,

Sorry, did not mean to repeat what you said. I guess we were both writing the answer at the same time.

Well that would go on the inside of the cabinet, otherwise no isolation?

Take

Right-o. Got it. I use wood for my chassis, so I didn't actually need isolation; hence, no need for the plastic thingy.

But now I know!

Thanks all.
