What is this for, a two way, or three way system? If two way, I'd probably choose the Seas due to better LF extension capability. However, I think the older (ie: 850108) Peerless designs may also be good in that respect, and I don't think you'll need to give up the shorting ring if that's a priority.

Rgds,
Paul

well both of them are modern designs with ventilation below the the spider.

The frequenzy respons is nice and flat, especially the Peerless.
They are both within my price range

I Don't need bigger than 5"

I've been looking at the 4" Peerless http://www.tymphany.com/peerless/data/830881.htm
but it has too low sensitivity.

I like the idea of using a voofer/midrange and cross it over low to the bass. I may mount the bass on the side

I like the looks of the peerless :)

I'm using the Vifa PL14Wj09-08 (see http://www.tymphany.com/products_Vifa.html)
in the same setup as you're thinking of. It's actively crossed at 135Hz to a side mounted woofer from Seas.
I'm quite happy with the results!

Kind Regards,

Emiel

Oops, I missed the very first sentence about it being a 3 way. I agree, the new Peerless are rather nice looking.
