I have been reading about shielding your center channel speakers but what I can not find out is any information on why or how to do this.

The best way is to use drivers that are shielded.

The other way is to add "bucking" magnets, glued to the back of the existing magnet. They can be bought from PE and other places.
I can't help with what magnets are used to buck what drivers. I have heard that you need 80% the strength of the existing magnet to effectively shield but hopefully others will chime in with more accurate numbers and what glue to use. Cal EDIT: The shielding is only needed if you have a CRT type TV and the centre channel speaker is close enough to it that the screen is affected by the magnets of the speaker. |
