I have learned that there has been an article in a german DYI magazine (Kang & TON or hobby HIFI) about construction tips for wall hanging speakers.

Does anyone know about this article ? And maybe have a link or copy ?

Hobby HiFi, issue 4 , 2005.

Three types of wall speakers were presented:

- small fullranger in case made out of Ikea bamboo plate.
- Manger Sidekick
- Flat TML using a Tang-Band driver

For a lot of the "Hobby Hifi" and "Klang+Ton" projects
you´ll find the plans somewhere on the net.
The Tangband TML from that issue nr.4 is here for example:

As I understand the bamboo can be realized with 6 different speakers but I´m not quite sure if all 6 are complete projects with different filters.
If you want the Vifa10BGS version here´s all you need to know:

Now you just have to find out how the given parts are used in the notch filters.
High-pass-filter is given on the page with the frequency responses.

Seriously I might get somebody to scan the rest for me as well.

PS.: The main dude from Hobby Hifi BTW is quite famous for doing overkill crossovers so that the response is beaten up to +-1dB variation no matter how many parts it costs. You could probably go with just the high-pass looking at the frequency response of the Vifa.

Thanks for the information. My main desire is to find the plate in Ikea as I have several speakers that could be used. The second link says the Ikea article number is 300.251.36 but I can't use this on Ikea's UK search system. Is it the 45cm dish Hultet?

I can´t either but it´s gotta be the 45cm version.
Estimations would make you think that and according to this thread from a german forum the "lid" for the bowl is made of 430mm diameter MDF-circle.

The other five recommended FR speakers are:
Fostex Fe 87E, Veravox 3, Visaton FR12, Visaton BG13, Visaton FR13
There are no SPL measurements for these drivers, only bass simulations (aj-horn) and HP component value recommendations from these simulations for all drivers. The author states that the bamboo filter network should work quite well for the fostex and veravox drivers too.

I dare to enclose a picture of one of the most elaborated filter networks I have seen so far (for just ONE driver!).

Interest in this has resurged. I have a pair of the dishes. Did the author turn down the ledge part of the base so they were flush or did he do something else? It seems to be very tight to fit a speaker in so any consruction detail would be welcomed.
