Start with a kit.

This is your first time and trying to do a full range floorstander as a first attempt from just a bunch of random drivers will either:

A) Fail horribly and put you off DIY for life.

B) Take months to perfect because your learning whilst you go

C) Cost you money as you abandon it and move onto a kit ;)

Much better to either copy an established design or buy a kit.

Since your in the UK Wilmslow audio is your best bet. They'll supply you with crossovers that are either built or ready to build, along with all the drivers, wiring, ports etc. etc.
If you like they can also supply you with ready cut flat pack cabinets, all you have to do is glue them together and if this is all too much they'll even do that for you.
