Hi i was just wandering if someone can help me with this cross over, all i want is to know what the cut off frequncies are for the mid and tweeter and also if possible what type of alignment it is.
Any type of help would be really greatfull. Is this any good for these drivers? Here is the link to the crossover http://www.audiocomponents.nl/speake...rrekt-xt_4.htm Regards Bowdown Keep up the diy spirit!! |

Hi Bowdown without knowing the impedance of the drivers it's not possible to work out the crossover freq.... and I'm not just talking about 8 ohm nominal, I'm talking about the actual impedance at the crossover freq.
Looks like it is a first order with impedance comp on the woofer. If the impedance was 5.8 ohms for the woofer (not unreasonable especially with imp comp) then the crossover freq would be about 600Hz..... note that such a low crossover freq could be done to compensate for baffle step. the tweeter has a 3rd order butterworth filter on it... I used it with my tweeter in sw and it looks like it is crossing at about 2Khz (very very hard to tell) impedance of my tweeter is about 7.5 ohms at that freq..... I wouldn't rely on this at all edit: here is the simulation in speaker workshop with a totally flat starting fr.... note that these values don't give a typical slope, it has more than likely been tweaked for the tweeters response... also this is using the impedance curve of my morel DMS37 tweeter. from this it looks like the crossover freq is a bit higher too, but that would depend on the driver it was intended for Tony. |

Yeah guys no worries i will post some details once im done. Yeah i am using the same drivers. Its going to take a while to build as i am going to be using translamination. I have started building the enclosures but im doing it bit by bit as i dont have many clamps! I want to tune the box a little differently(slightly smaller box) i will end up with a little less low end but i can always build a sub. I will be using Solen Caps and Hepta-litz air core inductors from Solen as well. Im sooooooo excited hope it turns out well.
Thanx for all the replies Regards Bowdown |
