Default Accuton rec's?

I really like the sound of the ceramic Accuton drivers. Loved the Eidolen's from first hearing. Heard a "simple and cheap" two way with an inexpensive crossover and a premade sealed box that did a lot right.

Considering building a set of three for my home theater. Seeking your rec's on drivers and whether to pursue active crossovers ...

Listen 70% to music, and 30% to movies. Use Meridian Trifield for former and PLXII for latter. Have plenty of amplification for inefficient designs.

New speakers don't have to go extremely low. I've got two SVS Ultra subs that handle low end well. Easy to cross at 80hz for music or movies, but, preference would be to cross lower for music to keep "seamlessness" of soundstage intact.

Want three identical units across the front. I've tried too many times to get non-identical "matching" speakers to match. Height of finished units has to be under 40". Ears are at 39".

What Accuton driver set would you recommend for a two way setup? Would you MTM or MT? What if I went three way instead? (I'm not all that cost constrained, but, would not go as far as the diamond tweeters!)

Active (Behringer DCX2496) crossover also a possibility ... would you pursue that with the Accuton drivers? (Asking because it appears that other folks, other than Tony Gee, seem to have struggled to get their Accuton based crossovers to sound as they'd like.)

Thanks.

I can't comment on the accuton drivers but I will on the DCX2496 since I've been using one in my project.

The DCX is definetly worth the investment! Especially if you plan on tweaking the cross over and want to listen to it with and without notch filters, asymetrical slopes, asymetrical frequencies between drivers etc the DCX is a great way to hear the differences instantly.

The method I have used is to put the CD player in a repeat loop and then change the settings on the fly as the repeat starts over. That way you get to hear the same passage on each setting back-to-back without any downtime which could cloud your judgment.

the DCX also has parametric EQ built in so you can do baffle step compensation, dipole roll-off compensation or notch filters.
